Description
This Aston Martin DB2/ 4 Mk I breathes authenticity and begs to be driven, not displayed. It is not a concours piece, but a genuine road car, honest and alive, rewarding every mile with the note of its 3. 0-litre six and an authentic handling that perfect restorations often erase.
The tone is set: you buy it to drive, to take part in events, feel the gears and brakes work, and enjoy a value proposition focused on substance, not gloss.
Character and specifications
It is the Aston Martin LML653, matching numbers, in its original Sea Green colour with Connolly beige leather interior, as evidenced by its official Factory Build Sheet. It carries the essential papers, a FIVA registration valid until 2030 and an entry in the Registro Mille Miglia 2023/ 24, proof of eligibility for the Mille Miglia 2026.
Under the bonnet, the heart of the car is the VB6J 2. 9-litre six-cylinder engine rated at 140 bhp, completely rebuilt in Italy in 2014 by Autoofficina Manenti.
Recent work and mechanical condition
We carried out targeted works in 2019 and 2022, totalling €20, 000, focused on reliability and endurance under heavy use. These include new crankshaft and gearbox seals, a new cylinder head gasket, a full exhaust system and a brake system overhaul.
Result: a mechanically solid DB, rally-ready and prepared to hit the road without the long adjustments often required after a restoration.
Provenance and history
Its history is clear and documented: first registered in 1955 in the name of Lucien Steinhauser in Luxembourg, then owned by Scuderia Brescia Racing and various Italian enthusiasts during the 1990s and 2000s, before arriving in Belgium in 2015.
Ready for the Mille Miglia 2026
For those aiming for the Mille Miglia 2026, this Aston is a wise choice: it is eligible, already registered, has up-to-date FIVA papers and has been prepared with reliability and endurance in mind. Its mechanical history and the recent works signed by Marreyt guarantee the peace of mind needed to tackle long stages and demanding touring distances.
Why this DB2/ 4
The DB2/ 4 holds a key place in the evolution of Aston Martin: the first four-seater of the Feltham era, foreshadowing future successes. This example combines authenticity, documented maintenance and a coherent history, favouring use over mere display. At a time when perfect restorations dominate, this DB2/ 4 offers a sincere and seductive alternative: a mechanically impeccable car, historically correct, at a realistic price, designed to drive.
