Description
Hello,
I am putting up for sale my 1988 900 Turbo 8 155hp (first registration January 1989). The last year of production of the T8 and perhaps the best year of the range, with performance rivalling, if not surpassing, the T16 thanks to a motor compression raised to 9 bar and a hyper‑tuned K‑Jetronic.
In short, the engine behaves as it did on day one, smooth and lively. The gearbox has no problem with gears slipping, no fluid overconsumption. The heating valve does not seize and the air distribution works perfectly.
This 900 has done road trips, Le Mans Classic, Classic Festival, SAABZH and others, without ever faltering.
Maintenance and inspections were carried out by AM900 Classic. Parts come exclusively from R&D and Skandix, not from a certain French dealer with odd practices.
The headlining, door panels and rear pillars have been redone.
Blaupunkt SQR 26 car radio with Bluetooth module replacing the MW (complete refurbishment by S. O. S. Radio, a pro), installation of Alpine speakers.
Odometer cluster check (odometer stuck at about 5, 000 km, now functional; actual mileage is around 194, 000 km maximum for 189, 000 shown).
Bosch 150 mm fog lights, with dedicated relay and fuse box and EXTRA button.
Paintwork redone by the previous owner.
Chassis in very good condition as evidenced by the photos.
Photos of the restoration and repairs (about 100 shots!).
Original Haynes documentation plus the modern update and workshop manuals in PDF. The original T8 documentation is also present and complete with its sleeve.
Some extra parts, including a fuel pump relay (hard to find), filters, etc.
Registration document is a collection plate, HistoVec available, if the site ever works…
What remains to be done,
Recommission the tachometer (issue not obviously from the instrument block, and I’ve already seen it work…),
Resew the leather of the front seats, the leather is not cracked,
Find the right relay for the heated seats and cruise control.
The “normal” issues on the 900s are present, namely cracked dashboard and scratched bumpers.
I can be reached by phone or via LBC to answer questions, provide additional photos, details, etc.
