It’s that time of year again folks. Yep, that’s right, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour is back! Returning to the UK, the increasingly popular competition to find the perfect car to recreate as one of the famous toy brand’s iconic die-cast miniatures is heading to RADwood at Bicester Heritage for the first-ever live final on Saturday the 2nd of September. The ten finalists will be on show at the premiere ’80s and ’90s automotive lifestyle event this summer with the overall winner being announced on the day, allowing fans of all ages to appreciate the incredible car builds in person and listen to the judges deliberate.

In just four years since its UK launch, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has gone from strength to strength and there were over 100 vehicles entered last year. To enter this year all you have to do is simply upload a short video and brief description of your build, highlighting its creativity, authenticity and ‘garage spirit’. Vehicles can be new or classic, road or track, with the winner entering the hallowed Hot Wheels Garage of Legends and securing a firm claim to fame in popular car culture history. After all, over eight billion toy vehicles have been produced by Hot Wheels over the past 55 years. That’s quite a legacy, and one that you can be a part of.

As mentioned, the live final will take place as part of this year’s RADwood event with the incredibly difficult job of judging falling to an expert panel, including a Hot Wheels designer, modified car creator and TV presenter Helen Stanley, presenter and avid car collector Paul Cowland and Sniff Petrol’s Richard Porter. All of this will unfold inside Bicester Heritage’s main hangar for fans to enjoy and boy will it be fun.

Ted Wu, Global Head of Vehicle Design at Mattel, Inc. explains: “The UK consistently delivers a group of incredible finalists, each worthy of becoming a Legend. That makes it one of the closest fought competitions in our growing Tour. From EVs to classic drag racers, the diversity, creativity and passion from the UK entries ensures it’s always an inspiring group for our designers to check out,”

Not only will the winner have their car immortalised as a Hot Wheels model, along with all of the kudos and reflected glory that comes along with it, but they will also receive a mega bundle of Castrol Oils merch and a set of Falken tyres. The UK finalist will go on to face winners from nearly 20 other countries (including France for the very first time) and the Grand Final will take place in the US in November. Hopefully we can have another overall winner from the UK following in the footsteps of 2021 winner Lee Johnstone and his 1969 Volvo P1800 Gasser, ‘Ain’t No Saint’.

Again, entry is quick and easy: simply upload a short video and brief information at www.hotwheelsuklegendstour.co.uk before Friday the 4th of August 2023. Good luck!
