Support a Great Cause and Win a Triumph Spitfire!

Before we get to the Triumph Spitfire I want to talk to you about a friend of mine. A friend who suffered severe, life-threatening injuries as a result of a road traffic accident after a lorry veered across the road and collided with the car he was driving. The car, or what was left of it, ended up in a ditch with the HGV on top, trapping my friend inside the car. This all happened on a fairly remote stretch of country road in Lincolnshire which meant that waiting for a regular, road-going ambulance was simply not an option. With his life literally hanging in the balance, an air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Arriving much quicker than its wheeled counterpart had any hope of doing, the helicopter was able to rush paramedics to the site of the accident whereby my friend was put into a medically induced coma before being airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries, including a brain injury and multiple fractures.

Thankfully, due to the existence of these air ambulances, my friend survived the significantly life-changing ordeal but this is just one example of how important air ambulances are in saving lives and one such service, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, which operates throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire, has a mission: to save lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Commendable, but what does this have to do with classic cars, we hear you cry. Well, Bridge Classic Cars is giving away a stunning 1973 Triumph Spitfire with just 59,000 miles on the clock in order to raise money for the cause.

Known for their classic car restorations, Bridge Classic Cars is proud to offer participants the incredible opportunity to win this classic Mark IV Spitfire. This competition not only allows the expert team of enthusiasts at Bridge Classic to contribute to an extremely important cause, but it also gives car enthusiasts the chance to own an iconic piece of automotive history for just a few quid. Craig Ranson, Managing Director of Bridge Classic Cars said: “We are delighted to support EAAA as we know just how important their work is for our region. We understand that without their fundraising efforts, a lot of lives will be put at risk, so we are extremely happy to play our part in helping the charity continue their incredible work and save many more lives.”

The Triumph spitfire is classic car royalty as far as we’re concerned. Italian design, great fun to drive, affordable and with great club and parts support the Spitfire is up there with the MGB as the quintessential classic British two-seater and the example up for grabs here is simply stunning. Resplendent in Carmine Red with beautiful chrome wire wheels and a black and red interior it comes complete with an impressive history file containing invoices, MOT certificates, parts catalogues, and a Haynes manual. With its 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox it’s the perfect classic to enjoy the summer in.

This is a cause close to our hearts and for less than a tenner you’d be doing your bit as well as potentially driving away in a rather tasty classic British roadster. To enter the competition and be in with a chance of winning the classic Triumph Spitfire, participants can enter the competition for £9 on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website. All profits from the competition will be donated directly to East Anglian Air Ambulance. The funds raised will directly benefit the charity’s initiatives and help them continue their impactful work in the region.
