The Appeal
The Jaguar Mk2 was a clever makeover of a 1950s design and only ever intended as a stopgap. Yet buyers loved it and, despite introducing new models, Jaguar decided to keep making it.
It gained a new name in 1967 and stayed in production even after the new XJ6 arrived. The 3.4litre with manual overdrive (MOD) was the mid point in the range but a particularly highlight, offering sweet-revving performance that was nearly a match for the bigger 3.8.
This 1967 3.4 litre is one of the last built – it was first registered after 340 production had begun – and is an older restoration that has been lovingly curated with much work undertaken by its previous owner, who ran a classic car restoration business. He rebuilt the engine, overdrive and suspension since buying the car in 2018 and it was last serviced just 500 miles ago.
The Mk2 is that most appealing of classics – a practical four seater that looks great and is very drivable. And this one looks very tempting.
