The Appeal
When Alfa decided to bring back the revered GTA nameplate it didn’t mess about. The high performance 156 was built on a dedicated line using 250bhp 3.2L ‘Busso’ engines assembled by Maserati in Modena. Just 350 RHD manual gearbox cars were built, of which only 110 were UK-bound.
Finished in classic Alfa Red with black leather, this one is the kind of enthusiast-kept 156 GTA that you hope to find. It has been looked after in recent years by blue-chip Alfa specialists Day & White and Autolusso. Key work has included a new timing belt and water pump in 2026 and annual servicing. The engine was rebuilt 28,000 miles ago in 2018, when the car also received a new clutch. Prior to that, a reconditioned gearbox was fitted. Sensible upgrades include a Quaife limited-slip differential, a 330mm Brembo front brake upgrade, Bilstein B12 suspension with Eibach springs and an anti-roll kit, and a Wizard stainless-steel catback exhaust paired with a Carbon Dynamics intake system.
Cosmetically, the car presents well for its age and mileage, with recently refurbished wheels, corrosion protection applied to the underside, and new wings fitted in 2020 to address previous corrosion. Some lacquer peeling on the bonnet and minor tailgate blemishes are noted in the interest of transparency. It comes to market with an MOT valid to July 2027.
