The Alfa Romeo 75 is a sporty sedan from the Italian car brand Alfa Romeo. The 75 came on the market in 1985, 75 years after the Alfa 24 HP, Alfa Romeo's first own model. In the United States, the car was also sold as Alfa Romeo Milano.
Alfa Romeo used the technology from the Alfa Romeo Alfetta. The body also borrows the lines of the Nuova Giulietta. Again it was rear-wheel drive, the engine was placed in the front and the gearbox and clutch in the rear (trans-axle) with the disc brakes placed against the gearbox. This resulted in an almost optimal weight distribution which, in combination with the spirited engines and superb road holding, created the sporty character of the 75. The gearbox controls underwent improvements that Alfa called "Iso-static". The same technique has also been applied to Alfetta successor Alfa Romeo 90.
The 75 is the last Alfa Romeo developed entirely in-house. Alfa Romeo was bought by Fiat in 1986. The 75 is therefore also seen as the last thoroughbred Alfa Romeo. In 1987 the 2. 0 engine was redesigned. The engine was fitted with two spark plugs per cylinder, just as was the case with racing cars. The Alfa Romeo Twin Spark engine was born (148 hp). In the same year, the already mentioned 3. 0 V6 was developed from the 2. 5 V6.
