This Riley 9 Kestrel 4 Light Saloon is, to the best of our knowledge, largely in original condition. Unfortunately, its history between 1934 and 2015 is not documented. In 2015 the vehicle was acquired by Miss Carole Noakes of Tonbridge, England, as recorded in the V5 document. What Miss Noakes did with the vehicle during her ownership remains unknown.
In 2020 the Riley – still bearing its British registration DM 8889 – was sold to France. Under its new French owner, extensive work was carried out: the engine was rebuilt, most of the wiring was renewed, the brake linings were replaced, and the front axle was overhauled.
In 2025 the car was sold to Germany. Once again, the mechanical systems were attended to, and the vehicle was prepared for German road registration.
One of the car’s most notable qualities is its condition. Over the years it has retained its charming “Oily Rag Condition” – a carefully preserved patina that reflects its age and history – while always receiving meticulous technical care. Visually, this Riley ranks among the most attractive closed saloons in the 9 HP model range. It is powered by a 1, 085 cc four-cylinder 9 HP engine, paired with an “All Helical” manual gearbox. The engine is running but is making noises that should be checked.
