Jaguar XJS HE Auto – Superb V12 Example
The Jaguar XJS produced between 1975 and 1996 is the epitome of the luxury grand tourer with a top speed in excess of 140mph, a 0-60 time of under 8 seconds and, in V12 form, a combination of power and comfort not equalled by Jaguar since production ceased.
Supplied new on 1st April 1985 by Marshall (Cambridge) Ltd our XJS HE has had just five careful owners and covered 82, 000 miles from new. The history folder contains MOT’s from 1989, the service book has eighteen stamps and there are invoices in recent years for work totalling over £4, 000 including ECU, brake master cylinder, ignition items etc.
The original claret red paintwork with factory coach-line is remarkable with no evidence of corrosion and just the odd mark commensurate with age. The beige leather interior, wood veneers, carpets, roof lining etc. are all excellent and you truly step back to 1985 as you sit behind the wheel. The contemporary press likened the V12 drive as “a powerful flying carpet – so smooth and quiet” and that is as true today as it was then
The XJS has been undervalued for years and many have been poorly maintained. Our car has always been cared for by fastidious owners and it is the nicest looking, best driving example we have ever sold.
