The Appeal
The DBS was heavier than the outgoing DB6 so Aston Martin tasked the great Tadek Marek with devising a new engine. Unfortunately, his V8 wasn’t ready in time for the 1967 launch so his venerable straight-six was swung back into action for the last time. Thankfully, by 1970, the V8 was finished and thus the DBS finally fulfilled its potential as a consummate long-distance GT. It was the fastest four-seater production car in the world.
This left-hand drive 1971 DBS V8 has recently been repatriated to the UK. The vendor advises that it will be UK road registered in readiness for its next owner to enjoy. We’re informed that it appears to drive smoothly and while it hasn’t been road-tested pending registration, the car certainly seems to be in good health.
