The Appeal
The discovery that Formula One champion Jody Scheckter owns a 21hp Renault 4CV may be a surprise. But it makes a lot of sense, because Scheckter’s father had a South African Renault dealership and he cut his teeth racing the 4CV’s successor, the R8.
He acquired this 1960 French-market 4CV in 2015 in the Netherlands and registered it in the UK in the same year. He has carefully kept it as part as of his high end collection ever since. Despite very sparing use it has featured at CarFest, held on his Estate in Hampshire.
Appropriately finished in French Racing Blue, the bodywork is presentable, but shows signs of microblistering in places. We love the details like the roof rack and white steel wheels. The car was restored in 2010, the work including a respray and retrim amongst other work. With such light use and careful storage since, light recommissioning is recommended by its new owner before road use.
The 4CV is a technically innovative, ultra stylish Renault. This car has provenance that make it really stand out being offered directly from Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter
