The Appeal
The TR4A was built in response to the somewhat middling response to the TR4. It maintained the controversial updated styling - which reportedly shocked a lot of American dealers - but did away with the somewhat troublesome Hotchkiss drive with an independent rear suspension - which hugely improved the new iteration of the TR roadster.
It wasn't as simple as swapping out the suspension, of course. The chassis had to be intensely redesigned, and the car was treated to a few cosmetic changes that softened the blow of the Michelloti modernism that the TR4 had sported. Ultimately, it was a grand success - and the car has matured beautifully into one of the UK's essential roadsters.
This particular 1967 example has been treated to an impressive level of work over the past twenty years, and is still a very impressive looker. Retaining its original number plate and accompanied by an impressive pile of paperwork, this is a fabulous example. image.png4.31 MB
