The Appeal
The Silver Shadow and Spirit were designed for ‘owner drivers’, but the Silver Spur was designed for an altogether more select audience. This LWB model was for owners who were driven not drivers. Just 939 were built in RHD like this car.
It is one of 84 RHD cars built in 1984 and spent its first five or six years being chauffeur driven for its CEO keeper. It has remained in the same family since, being placed into storage between 2010 and 2024, which has kept the mileage to a paltry 40,000.
Despite that limited use and storage, the car was sent annually to a Rolls-Royce specialist for servicing. The result of both regimes is a highly presented car that wears its 41 years exceptionally lightly.
Classically finished in Royal Blue over magnolia leather, the car is a reminder of the handsome, stately style of these early SZ cars. It is said to run and drive very well. It is a sign of the maintenance approach that the car carries a lengthy, advisory-free MOT despite now being registered as a Historic Vehicle.
If you’re in the market for Rolls-Royce’s mid-80s limousine, then you spoilt for choice. We suspect few available are as good as this one, and with the provenance to match.
The vendor says:
“Overall I’d argue this to be one of the best preserved, original examples of a Silver Spur.”
