The Appeal

This impressive custom Softail may well be familiar. It’s a well-known bike that took ‘Best Paint’ at the Pro Custom Show in Newark. That work was done by blue chip specialist Organic Image and is part of a comprehensive overhaul of what began life as an Evo-powered 1993 Softail Custom.

The work is built around Zodiac North Sea Chopper frame by Ton ‘The Godfather’ Pels. The frame's high neck and elegant rake give the bike a striking silhouette to match that distinctive ‘true flame’ finish.

As part of the work, the engine, gearbox and starter were fully stripped, chemically treated and bead-blasted — with the top end processed at the Rolls-Royce factory in Derby — before being reassembled with new gaskets and seals. The vendor describes the result as, in effect, a brand-new motor. Rolling on CCI polished aluminium billet Revtec wheels shod with Avon Venom tyres and a wide 250-section rear, the stance is purposeful and well-proportioned.

The bodywork is where this build distinguishes itself. The aluminium tank is a one-off Parker Fabrication piece with hidden mounts and a pop-up fuel cap, while the fenders: a slim-line front and a double-skinned iron cross rear acting as a hugger — are also unique to this motorcycle. All were painted by Beej at Organic Image in a black base with candy and his trademark True Fire treatment, extending across the frame, oil tank and swing arm. The quality of this work was recognised with a Best Paint award at the Pro Custom Show in Newark, where the bike was displayed on the Parker Fabrication stand alongside builds from the UK's leading custom builders.

Prospective bidders should note that the chassis number from the donor 1993 Softail will be added to this bike, allowing the V5 to be transferred, unless the winning bidder prefers the motorcycle to undergo an SVA test upon completion.
