The Appeal
Before Jaguar expanded into the junior executive market in the early 2000s, the marque’s reputation was built upon a range of aspirational luxury cars that combined elegant styling, refined road manners and effortless performance. By the late 1990s, Jaguar’s line-up remained firmly rooted in the premium sector, with models such as the XK8 helping to reinforce its position as one of Britain’s foremost manufacturers of grand touring cars.
Introduced as the high-performance version of the XK8, the XKR added a supercharged V8 to an already accomplished package. Despite its formidable performance, it remained true to Jaguar’s traditional approach, with only subtle styling changes distinguishing it from its naturally aspirated sibling. Bonnet vents, a mesh grille and discreet badging were among the few clues to the car’s enhanced capabilities.
Finished in a timeless colour combination, this particularly well-kept example has covered fewer than 34,000 miles from new and has benefited from more than £5,000 of maintenance expenditure during the last nine years, including significant work to the front chassis rails.
Praised by the seller for its driving experience, this low-mileage XKR is well suited to continued use as a refined grand tourer, whether enjoyed on weekend drives, longer journeys or as a characterful modern classic.image.png3.4 MB
