The appeal
The Renault EU is one of the marque's rarest early models, featuring a radiator mounted behind the engine, against the firewall. This particular example has been transformed from a ruined state into a unique chauffeur/landaulet coupé thanks to the passionate work of its current owner. What makes this vehicle particularly interesting is its modular design - the cab section can be removed to convert it into a convertible torpedo, offering two distinct driving experiences.
This 1923 Renault has been carefully restored, respecting period details while incorporating the owner's creative vision. The vehicle features an impressive range of luxury equipment, including a folding seat, small bar, flower holder, ashtray and interior 'telephone'. With its Carte Grise de Collection and matching serial numbers, this represents a rare opportunity to acquire a distinctive piece of French motoring heritage that has been rescued and re-imagined.

History and Documents
- Serial numbers are marked as matching
- This is a chauffeur coupé which could also be called a 'landaulet'.
- The car was bought in a state of disrepair (as shown in the photo gallery below)
- It had been abandoned in a junkyard after a gearbox bearing broke
- It was converted into a van during the Second World War, but all the mechanical parts are original
- The owner bought it because the EU model is rare and offered the potential to create something original
- After restoration, this vehicle is unique - there is no other like it
- The owner unfortunately has to part with it but is willing to answer any questions from potential bidders
- No MOT

The Condition
- The bodywork is tailor-made by the owner, based on consultation of very old period documents, designed to match the owner's vision
- Modular design: by removing the cab section, it becomes a convertible torpedo
- The interior is upholstered in decorative fabric that is quite fragile but in good condition
- Features include an extra folding seat, small bar, flower holder, ashtray and interior 'phone
- The dashboard is complete and designed to current standards
- The wheels required the purchase of more than ten to salvage the wooden spokes to make five complete wheels
- The tyres are new as the car has only been used for short journeys and static displays
- The front end and wings are metal and have been painted
- The rest of the bodywork is covered in skai glued to the wooden frame
- The colour can easily be changed by replacing the skai, which is held in place by easily removable aluminium strips

The engine
- 2,200 cm3 four-cylinder engine
- Four-speed manual gearbox
- All mechanical parts are original, with modifications made over the years
- Everything has been checked by the owner, although he notes that he is not a mechanic, so there may be some omissions
- The brakes have been rebuilt
- Believed to be the first Renault model with four-wheel brakes
- Potential buyers need to take the time to get to know the car and make the necessary modifications; requires different adjustments and maintenance to current models
- Estimated to weigh around 2,000 kilos
- Although it does not exceed 40-45 km/h, it is reported to require strong legs to stop it
