The Appeal
Restoring and rebuilding classic cars is hard work. Which is why we rather like this ‘68 MGC - it’s a car where someone else has done all the graft. It’s been done recently and comprehensively, including new British Racing Green paintwork, RHD conversion, a full interior retrim, and an extensive mechanical overhaul. The work began in 2025 when the car arrived from Texas and was completed just prior to the issuing of a new, voluntary MOT in March 2026.
With just 4,452 C roadsters built it is a rare find and one of the best we’ve seen in a long while. Key tells like the door fit plus the condition of the sills, floors and boot all indicate this is a very tidy example. That fresh paintwork is a quality job, and the cabin has been retrimmed to sympathetically replicate the original finish, right down to the choice of a three-spoke sprung factory wheel. The photos and the history file indicate that considerable sums were invested in renewing the mechanicals, building on an earlier engine rebuild while the car was in Texas. The MOT provides transparency around the structure and mechanical condition.
With its torquey 3L 150bhp engine and useful overdrive, this pretty car makes an interesting and very practical alternative to a Big Healey.
