The Appeal
The Ford Fiesta Fly hails from a little-known and fascinating chapter in British coachbuilding history. This 1980 Mk1 convertible conversion was created by the renowned Crayford Auto Development Limited, who produced only approximately 18 examples before selling the licence to F. English. This particular Diamond White example is registered with the Crayford Convertible Club as a genuine Crayford-built car, making it significantly rarer than the later F. English conversions.
This Fiesta Fly has covered just over 27,000 miles and remains largely original, featuring its factory red cloth trim. The car has been in the current owner's possession for eleven years and comes with period-correct modifications, including Supersport alloys, a rare Hella spotlamp grille, and an aftermarket steering wheel. With comprehensive documentation and only six former registered keepers over its 45-year lifespan, this represents a unique opportunity to own a professionally converted convertible version of Ford's iconic small car.
