M Car enthusiasts will know that the Evolution Coupé is the pick of the E36 M3 bunch. Its 3.2-litre S50B32 was the first BMW road engine to achieve over 100 bhp per litre. It features double VANOS (variable valve timing) for a significantly broader power band, providing 86% of its peak torque from as low as 1,500 rpm.
