 The Appeal

Introduced in 1925, the Triumph Model P occupies an important place in the marque’s early history. Designed as a tough, simple and accessible motorcycle, it was rather different in character from the more overtly sporting machines with which Triumph would later become so closely associated. Its side-valve engine offered durability, straightforward maintenance and dependable performance, helping the model to become one of the company’s most successful motorcycles of the period.

Produced in significant numbers during the late 1920s, the Model P helped make motorcycling more attainable at a time when private transport was still a considerable expense. Nearly a century later, surviving examples offer a fascinating link to that formative era of British motorcycle manufacture, with the engineering simplicity and mechanical honesty that make vintage machines so rewarding to own.

First registered on 13 September 1927, RU 6002 is now approaching its centenary and was acquired by the seller with the VMCC Banbury Run in mind. It wears its age with confidence, showing the kind of time-earned patina that suits a machine of this period, rather than presenting as a freshly restored showpiece.

With sympathetic care and continued use, this Model P should remain a rewarding participant in vintage motorcycle events, rallies and club gatherings. It is an evocative piece of pre-war British motorcycling history, and one that deserves to be preserved, ridden and enjoyed.
