- Rare pre-war British sports car
- Comprehensively restored to a high standard
- Stored in a warm, dry garage under cover
- In current ownership family for approximately 25 years
The Appeal
Introduced in 1931, the Speed 20 kept up to Alvis's reputation with a new, low-slung position and familiar mechanics - offering a dynamic and highly capable sports car to a market that seemed ever-hungry for new, more charismatic sports motors. By 1934, it was improved further, with a new "all-silent" gearbox and improved steering. These Speed SBs were a perfect mid-point for Alvis's signature convertible, and are now highly desirable sports cars through and through.
This particular 1934 example has been completely stripped and meticulously restored to original condition by the current owner's grandfather, who acquired the vehicle approximately 25 years ago. Having been stored in a warm, dry garage and kept covered for most of its restored life, this Speed 20 is a handsome, very well-presented car that we expect will garner plenty of interest at auction.
