The Appeal
The Austin 10 is a charming pre-war saloon that represents accessible vintage motoring at its most appealing. With its 1,100cc side-valve four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox, the Clifton offered a refined step up from the smaller Austins of the 1930s, and would prove to be one of their most enduring, continuing production all the way through the Second World War.
This particular example carries notable provenance, having been originally purchased by United Dairies in 1937 as one of a pair of promotional vehicles, with its sister car bearing the registration DUU 542. The ownership history is well-documented from new, tracing a path through a series of keepers in the north-east of England before the car was extensively restored. The vendor reports it is mechanically sound and cruises comfortably at around 30mph. IMG20260328104504.jpg934.77 KB
