The Appeal
If you had money to spend in the mid-'60s, a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III with coachbuilt Fixed Head Coupé bodywork by Mulliner Park Ward was just about the finest car you could get your hands on. These Silver Clouds were painstakingly hand-built, using only the best materials, with swathes of Connolly leather and walnut woodwork enveloping the spacious cabin. Six decades on, this car is no less impressive. In fact, it stands out even more against the sea of homogenous SUVs that plague our roads today.
This 1965 example simply stuns in Regal Red over a beige exterior. It's also complete with a rare electric factory steel sunroof. Having been part of a substantial collection since 2005, the Rolls has been well-preserved and maintained, making it a worthy consideration for any classic car enthusiast or collector.image.png2.01 MB

Part of a substantial collection since 2005
Exempt from road tax and MOT
5,034 miles indicated (unwarranted), likely to be 105,034 miles.

Very good woodwork throughout the cabin
Factory steel sunroof reportedly in good working order
Clean, well-presented chassis, which can be studied in the photographs
These MPW Coupés are imposing cars. That was all part of the design. It shouts peerless quality and supreme opulence from every angle. As the photographs show, this car comes to market presented very well indeed, showing very few signs of wear despite its considerable age. Clearly, a great deal has been invested in its preservation over the years.
Well-presented and original-looking engine compartment
Despite their considerable size and a design that clearly prioritises luxury over performance, these V8-engined Silver Cloud IIIs are surprisingly spritely out on the open road. Their 6.2-litre (6,230cc) aluminium-alloy V8 engine features a higher compression ratio and larger carburettors than the Silver Cloud II, meaning the engine delivered approximately 210-220 bhp, allowing for a top speed of around 115 mph.image.png1.57 MB
