The Appeal
Some classics are all about the low mileage, the restoration or perhaps the rarity. This magnificent little Fiat 500 is about something else entirely. This charismatic 500F is a much-loved member of the current keeper’s family, where it has been since 1985.
The seller reports that their 87-year-old mother, their main driver, was, until recently, a familiar sight buzzing around the local roads in her bright red car. This car has been a workhorse rather than a classic, and we think it’s all the better for it.
Now finished in bright red and wearing its use lightly like a badge of honour, buying this is as much about that fantastic story as it is getting your hands on an oval-dial 500. The car comes to market after a recent check over and service. That work included changing the brake fluid, sorting out some minor electrical quirks and adjusting the wheel bearings. Welding work was undertaken in 2023.
Few classics are as characterful as a classic 500. Few RHD 500s are as storied as this one.
The vendor says:
“My mother absolutely loves driving this car. She is extremely well known in our village, hurtling along, and people always come up to her when she's out, complimenting her on it. This car has been a workhorse for her for forty years, and yes, you can see that it has worked, but it is a very loved car, and she is sad to see it go, but she isn't getting any younger at 87 years old!”
