The Appeal
Land Rovers are amongst the most storied of classic vehicles. And few can be as storied as this 1967 Series IIA which has recently arrived from the dry, cossetting climes of South Africa.
That is a clue to its history. This well-preserved South African-built 109 pick up began its life with the South African Defence Force (SADF), where it likely supported border force, logistics and reconnaissance operations. For this it was carefully modified, including extended tub and overhang, relocated fuel tank, reinforced chassis and checkerplate to wing tops and sills. It retains these and its many other original features.
It arrived in the UK in autumn 2024 and carries correct importation and registration documentation. There is also some history from its time in South Africa.
As a low-mileage LWB pick up, this stately Land Rover is in very good condition for its age. There are inevitable signs of use, but with a vehicle like this, would you want it otherwise? The vendor notes an area of chassis that requires attention, but otherwise this looks a very solid and usable pick up with some fascinating provenance.
