The Appeal
The MGC Roadster was produced for just two model years between 1967 and 1969, pairing the elegant MGB bodyshell with a 2,912cc inline-six that transformed it into a genuine grand tourer. The hope was to make a fitting replacement for the ailing Austin-Healey, and while it may have never achieved that standard, it's certainly gained a passionate fanbase. The vendor notes it as the only tax-exempt MG capable of keeping up with modern traffic, and with good reason; the straight-six provides effortless cruising ability that the four-cylinder MGB simply cannot match.
This early non-overdrive example is No. 330 off the production line and was restored between 1986 and 1996 in the north of England before being acquired by the current owner in January 1996. In the three decades since, it has been carefully maintained, with its quality recognised at a number of events. Accompanied by its original green logbook, a Heritage Certificate dated April 1997, and a service history, this is a well-documented and thoughtfully kept MGC Roadster that presents a fine opportunity for the next custodian.
