The Appeal
We keep saying that the W113 ‘Pagoda’ is a great classic touring car, and here is the proof. This vendor acquired this car in 2014 and has used it extensively for European touring, including as far as Albania. All, reportedly, without any issues.
That tells you something about the original engineering, as well as the quality of the restoration work that the car has received since arriving in the UK from Illinois 11 years ago. The body has been extensively rebuilt, including new sills, and finished in the very fetching colour of Blau Grun with a matching refurbished hard top. The mechanicals have been lavished with investment - we calculate in excess of £17,000 - and upgrades. The engine was rebuilt by specialist Roger Edwards 10,000 miles ago in 2017, and the rear axle was overhauled in 2022. The retrimmed tobacco tan interior features heated seats and sympathetic dashboard modifications to accommodate the seat switches and a Brantz rally meter. In 2024 there were repairs to the gearbox alongside other work.
Some W113S sit in dry storage collections, others get used. This car is definitely the latter. That means the buyer gets a car that has been properly ‘shaken down’ and is reliable. Despite the use, the body, paint and interior remain in very good order.
