The early days of the 911 have become the stuff of legend. Powered by a 1,991cc all-aluminium engine, wrapped in curvy bug-eyed bodywork and offering rear-engine performance that seemed like a whole new language, these cars really brought the Porsche marque into its own, and put Stuttgart on the map as the capital of German sports cars.
Today, these early 911s have never been more desirable and garner plenty of attention from enthusiasts. We expect this handsome car to be no exception.
Built in 1968/1969 and originally sold in the United States in April 1969, this 911 is believed to have been imported into the UK in the 1990s, where it has been garaged and cherished by collectors ever since. The vendor describes it as a very original example in very good condition, and the numbers support that claim: just 3,170 miles have been covered since 2005 according to MOT records, with only around 1,000 of those added during the current ownership.
Multiple Porsche specialists have confirmed that the car's condition is consistent with its 13,000-mile odometer reading. Acquired in 2018 from respected Porsche dealer Peter Richardson, this handsome 911 is now awaiting its lucky new keeper - who we've no doubt will find it takes pride of place in their collection. The silhouette of the 911 has become universally recognisable, and unsurprisingly, it all started here. The bug-eye lights, curvy front end and sleek fastback rear have barely changed in the decades since. This early car beautifully reflects that silhouette from top to bottom, in fine straight bodywork with an Ivory White livery.
The vendor reports that everything is clean, solid and free of any significant corrosion, which appears to be well-reflected in our photographs. The gentle lashings of brightwork contrast well, and the original factory wheels are particularly worth noting.
Internally, the 911's black upholstery is equally true-to-factory, with the seats retrimmed in 2019 to that original factory specification and the original, fuss-free dashboard proudly on display. All of the instruments are clean and legible, with original AC controls and a period-correct radio nestled within.

It's the air-cooled flat-six that centres the 911's soul, and this example still carries the engine and gearbox it was built with. Mechanically standard throughout, it's a good, solid and eminently drivable classic that's still capable of stirring drivers more than fifty years later.
