The Appeal
The Silver Shadow was a reinvention of the classic luxury saloon, built for a brave new world. Standardising, new monocoque construction and new features all came together to make luxury cars more viable post-war, and for many, the Silver Shadow became the de facto luxury car - reserved for the elites and the celebrity classes that were increasingly visible in the new era of pop culture.
Two-door convertibles existed - what we, of course, know as the Corniche - but coachbuilders and specialists Tickfords were known to convert four-door cars into convertibles and more. That's believed to be exactly what this handsome Shadow underwent in the 1990s. A rare, versatile four-door convertible for the discerning driver.
Delivered new from the factory in March 1975 in Peacock Blue, a colour believed to have been retained, this car now wears a grey manually operated synthetic hood. Prior to the current owner's acquisition in 2016, the car was maintained and stored by DEW, the respected Rolls-Royce specialists in Eynsham, Oxfordshire. Since then, it has been garaged in Bath and seen little use, preserving its condition. It's now eagerly awaiting its lucky new owner. image.png1.35 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
