The heart-melter
It may not look like a technological trailblazer, but the 2CV is without a doubt one of the most ingenious cars ever to roll off a European production line. Its remarkable simplicity—no frills—and its distinctly French charm have fed the collective imagination for decades. But what really made it essential is its long-travel suspension system and its low ride height. Designed to float over ploughed fields and wartime-battered roads, it was the vehicle that helped France get moving again.
This 1980 2CV wears the famous two-tone yellow and Bordeaux livery and has been owned by the current owner since 2016. During that time, it has been fully restored, as the invoices show. It was stored in a garage while still being used regularly.
The seller states that the bodywork is in very good condition and rates the cabin and the mechanicals highly. With the possible exception of the seat belts, it’s specified that it remains compliant with its original configuration. A well-kept history file accompanies the car, including MOT/technical inspection certificates and invoices for compliance work accumulated over the past decade.

This sale is subject to Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions. By placing a bid and/or making an offer, you also agree to the following:
✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, meaning that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions.
✓ We request that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “take it as it is, where it is” basis and without any warranty. Photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only, and it is standard practice to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of the bid or submission, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to make sure the transaction runs smoothly—just like you do—and that’s why UK-registered cars and motorcycles listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to confirm they show no basic insurance database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to a financial charge. This allows you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off following a total loss incident at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide category write-off labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it’s always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for vehicle collection or delivery. Importing vehicles may involve additional customs duties and import taxes. If you wish, we can recommend a third-party transport company that can help.
