The Appeal
The original ‘B2’ Audi Coupe is the car that, in turbocharged Quattro form, set the world’s rally stages alight. Its successor lacked the gravel-scrabbling kudos, but shared much of the original’s DNA and benefits from a host of improvements to the original.
All good reasons to want one of the rare survivors. Of which this car is amongst the nicest, thanks to its interesting provenance and a huge amount of recent work. It shares the warbling 2.2L ‘KV’ 5 pot with those Quattros, although without the turbo, and is fitted with a desirable 5spd box. The work has included a full respray in original Tornado Red plus engine and gearbox rebuilds. There is also a new clutch with replacement master and slave cylinders, the front suspension has been overhauled and the wheels have been refurbished.
The car has been in the same family from new and with the current keeper since 2010. What hasn’t been restored is well preserved, including the interior. The car comes to market with a recent service and lengthy MOT valid to April 2026 that contains no structural advisories.
The vendor says:
“Due to the provenance of the vehicle and the extensive refurb which covers all of the most expensive areas of the vehicle, I believe this is one of the most genuine and rare cars to find. I love that its been in my family from new, and I love knowing that the engine and gearbox are like new and there will be nothing major needing to be done. All of the outstanding items are minor or cosmetic in nature and the care drives like a dream.”
