The Appeal
The R107 was built for American buyers cruising American interstates, so they tended to get the best versions. In the car’s final, facelifted, and galvanised years, that meant this car: the effortlessly smooth 5.5L 225bhp 560SL.
It's a smart example, helped by the rare Pajett burgundy red paintwork and beige leather combination. These ultra-reliable cars are built to be driven yet at 38,800 miles from new, this one is barely run in. Naturally, it is a USA-market car, although you wouldn’t know that because it has been converted to the much more aesthetically pleasing European specification with slim bumpers and twin lights. That work alone can cost £10,000, so the buyer will appreciate that it's already been done.
The history file documents regular servicing through its early life in the US, followed by a series of North Carolina state inspections between 1999 and 2012 that record very low annual usage. It arrived in the UK in 2019 and has had just three keepers since, the current one since January 2025. In 2026 alone £13,000 has been invested in mechanical works, which is documented below. This includes a major service by Tim Purslow Mercedes Specialist in January, followed by further work addressing the fuel system, braking components, cooling system, and steering. The car holds a valid MOT until January 2027 and appears to be a good example of these later galvanised cars.
The vendor says:
“The exceptionally low mileage is supported not only by a stamped service book but backed up by government inspection certificates throughout its life. Together, these provide a consistent history of the vehicle's minimal use.”

Fit••••
Hello, I can't see any photos showing the soft top. Does that mean it's missing? If so, is the mechanism for it there, or is that missing too? Thanks.
