The Appeal
The Caterham 7 HPC BDR sat at the pinnacle of the late-1980s Seven range, marrying the famously lightweight spaceframe chassis with the high-revving, twin-cam Ford BDR engine to deliver one of the most visceral driving experiences available. With only 62 factory-built examples produced, the HPC BDR is among the rarest and most collectible of all Seven variants, and the BDR engine's characterful delivery and motorsport pedigree ensure it remains highly prized.
This particular car has been in the hands of its current owner since May 2007 and comes with an extensive history file that includes the original sales invoice, a dynamometer reading from Mech Motorsport showing 162bhp, and a June 2006 copy of Practical Performance Car magazine in which it was featured. Presented in striking 'Prisoner' livery, British Racing Green with a yellow nosecone, the vendor notes it has seen very little use during the current ownership period and has been stored in a dry garage when not in use. Reportedly benefiting from a recent service with hoses replaced where required, the vendor states the car is fantastic to drive. A private registration plate is included in the sale.
