The Appeal

The Charleston made its debut in 1980 as a special edition, bringing an elegant 'art deco' touch to the already distinctive character of the 2CV. Its success was such that it quickly became part of the regular range and became, in 1990, the final version of the 2CV produced. Today, these cars with their instantly recognisable style are among the most sought-after by collectors, not only for their aesthetics, but also for their particularly refined equipment, including notably a 29 bhp engine, front disc brakes and a modern alternator.

This 1990 Charleston, well maintained, is among the approximately 1,000 final 2CVs to leave the Citroën factory in Mangualde, Portugal, before production ceased definitively on Friday, 27 July 1990. It also displays the same Midnight Grey and Cormorant Grey colour combination as the very last 2CV produced.

The seller indicates that the car joined his family in 2016 and has covered only 16,000 km since. He also confirms that the displayed mileage of 73,590 km is accurate.

Shortly after its acquisition, this lovely 2CV underwent a complete restoration including notably the replacement of the chassis and floor pans, renovation and reupholstering of the seats, work on the braking system, replacement of wheel bearings as well as suspension overhaul. Some elements were also powder-coated.

Ten years after this restoration, it still presents in fine overall condition, notably thanks to its moderate use and dry storage. A few minor cosmetic imperfections are visible, but nothing particularly significant. Its condition is corroborated by the latest MOT, which was valid until 30 June 2026.

A particularly appealing 2CV Charleston, which would make an elegant addition to any Citroën enthusiast's collection.

"As a family car, it has been perfectly maintained and has covered very few miles – 16,000 km in 10 years. The car starts at the first turn of the key and presents no driving faults."
