The Appeal
The BMW R100 GSPD is among the more distinctive variants to emerge from BMW's celebrated flat-twin boxer lineage. With its 980cc engine, five-speed manual gearbox, and long-range 35-litre Paris-Dakar touring tank, it offered a compelling blend of rugged capability and continent-crossing endurance.
This 1993 example was imported from Germany in 2021, sourced through the well-known Martin Co., and arrived with documented workshop history. Under its current custodian in Cork, it has continued to be carefully maintained. The vendor states the motorcycle is in perfect mechanical condition, and with just 7,190 km covered in five years of current ownership, this is a genuine, well-cared-for motorcycle that is ready to be ridden or added to a collection.
Crucially, this R100 GSPD remains unmodified from its original specification. It retains its panniers and pannier frames, the Paris-Dakar touring tank, and the sought-after Velvet Violet Gravel metallic paint. Cosmetically, it presents as an honest example with buffs and scratches consistent with its approximately 33 years.
