The Appeal
The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Cabriolet, manufactured by Karmann, enjoyed a production run that outlasted the Mk1 hatchback by a full decade. By 1993, the final year of manufacture, it had already earned its place as a future classic. The Clipper edition, with its diamond-pattern leather seats, electric hood, and 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, represents one of the more sought-after specifications.
This right-hand-drive example, finished in white, shows 12,200 miles on the odometer and benefits from a replacement hood that the vendor reports looks as good as new. The diamond leather seats are present and retain their character, though the vendor notes they could benefit from minor cosmetic attention. The vendor describes the car as a "crowd puller" that "drives beautifully".
The history file begins with the factory pre-delivery inspection at Wigan Motor Co. Ltd in February 1993 and continues with regular main dealer servicing through the mid-1990s. In September 2025, the car underwent a thorough service at CS Car Sales, and a new battery was also fitted. The car is presented with a MOT to May 2027.image.png1.39 MB
