The Appeal
We’d had Sporty Mini, but it took Austin Rover a while to develop Posh Mini. That role was filled by the Mayfair, named after the poshest place in London that Longbridge could think of and designed to channel the luxury of the earlier Radford Minis.
Mayfair survivors are few and far between, making them stand-outs at Mini shows amongst the more common Coopers. This ‘94 example has done exactly that, featuring as one of just 50 vehicles from over 250 entries for The Smallest Cog's first car meet.
Painted in silver with a grey leather and fabric interior, it is a tidy and tastefully modified example that benefits from a long list of recent work. Most of it has been undertaken by specialists Minimine, with highlights including new rear subframe and rear brake work, replacement shock absorbers, new water pump and brake work. The current MOT runs to April 2026.
This is a really tidy, well-specified classic Mini that looks ready to show and go.
The vendor says:
“An absolute pleasure, the automatic gearbox makes driving this car extremely easy. Provides a true go-kart like feel on fun country roads, but also smooth for longer drives. Provides the classic Mini experience for those who would like to take it easy. A Classic Mini makes everyone happy, and owning such a comfortable version made it even better. This car was also one of the 50 cars (of over 250 picked) for The Smallest Cog's first car meet.”
