The Appeal
The E34 generation BMW 5 series is often regarded as the bridge between the traditional and perhaps more raw BMW cars of the 1970s and 1980s and the later, softer and more luxurious offerings. The E34 can therefore be seen as something of a “sweet spot” in BMW's history.
By the time this late, 1995 530i Touring was made, BMW had begun to transition from straight-six to V8 engines for the higher specification E34s. Unusually, this particular example is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, adding to the driver appeal.
The seller informs us that the car comes with a folder of recent bills, MOTs, etc and has recently been recommissioned over a period of six years before being put back on the road at the beginning of 2025.
Presented in an appealing colour combination of Orient Blue with Dove Grey leather interior, you could perhaps best describe the cosmetic condition of this car as “driver quality”. Either use it as-is as a guilt-free, daily-driver modern classic or see it as a candidate for ongoing cosmetic restoration and enhancement.
The vendor says:
“I have owned the car for six years, the vehicle has been garaged/dry stored that whole time until the vehicle was recommissioned and put back on the road at the start of the year”
The History and Paperwork
- Current MOT valid until April 2026
- V5 included showing three former keepers
- Folder of paperwork with recent invoices/MOT
The Condition
- Exterior panels are generally straight, but with signs of previous paint repairs, scratches and imperfections. Some corrosion to the lower driver’s door. Minor curbing of the alloy wheels
- Interior is original except for an aftermarket Sony Bluetooth head unit.
- Interior shows heavy signs of use and could benefit from a deep valet or refurbishment.
- Seller advises the headliner is sagging and that the electric windows “can become sticky when not regularly used”.
- The rear screen is perfect and it is in fact a fault with the pictures (refer to the video for an accurate representation)
The Mechanics
- 3.0-litre DOHC V8 petrol engine
- Five-speed manual transmission
- Rear exhaust backbox modification, enabling the user to hear the V8 rumble while not being too noisy
- Seller concludes that the car “runs and drives faultlessly with a silky smooth manual transmission”
