The Appeal
The list of brilliant Japanese cars of the 1990s is a really long one, but close to the top must surely be Honda’s superlative Integra Type R. Widely lauded by reviewers and owners as one of the greatest coupes ever built, these quick and engaging cars are from an era when driver skill trumped nannying tech.
What makes the third-generation Integra Type R so special is just how far Honda went to make it that way. The B18C was hand-built, featuring hand-polished and ported heads and high-compression pistons at the head of a long list of performance tweaks. The chassis was strengthened with extra welds and thicker rear shock towers and lower subframe. Even the windscreen was thinned down and the wheels lightened. The result was a 8,600rpm red line, 190bhp and 0-60 in under 7secs. But, as buyers know, it’s really how the Type R drives that makes it so, so special.
This 1999 UK market RHD Type R is thankfully factory standard, just a modern Kenwood touch screen head unit varies from how it left the Honda works. Finished in resprayed white with matching wheels and subtly debadged, it is in very good condition for a car of this age. Inside the Recaro front seats show a little wear, but that would be an easy fix. Under the bonnet the engine is said to have been fully rebuilt. The current MOT runs to September 2026.
This is a really tidy example of a truly brilliant car. One to jump in and enjoy straight away.
The vendor says:
“The car is a dream to drive, and guaranteed to make you smile.”

Hello, have the arches and sills been replaced before, or are they original? If original, are you able to show a picture of the spot weld dimples on the arches? Thank you
