The Appeal
The 156 was Alfa Romeo’s answer to the 3-Series and has to be one of the best-looking saloon cars of the last 30 years. While the Twin Sparks are a revvy joy, if your budget doesn’t stretch to a GTA then the one you want is this car, a luxury Lusso-spec saloon with manual box and Giuseppe Busso’s sonorous V6.
This one-keeper car has escaped the fate of many early 156s in that it is surprisingly preserved and very solid. Looking tidy in metallic green with recently refurbished grey anodised ‘teledials,’ it is a desirable pre-facelift car with the improved, better-quality Series 2 interior. The mileage is a low 81,000 miles. The MOT runs to February 2027.
The car benefits from recent work, including new rear callipers, handbrake cables, lower suspension arm and driveshaft. The vendor tells us that it runs and drives well but would benefit from a cambelt change and service, it is overdue a service and cambelt based on time. Once done, you get to enjoy a rare survivor of one of the most entertaining and pretty Alfa saloons ever built.
The vendor says:
“Good low mileage low owner example, very tidy bodywork and is sold underneath, 8/10 bodywork.”
