The Appeal

It’s hard not to see the C215 as a statement of intent by Stuttgart, a four-wheeled throwing down of the gauntlet to couture manufacturers of high end grand tourers. Only Aston Martin, Ferrari and Maserati can seriously rival it for serious, high speed mile munching, and none of them have the kudos of Mercedes’ focussed approach to engineering.

The second generation CL is nothing short of a technological tour de force and arguably one of the best GTs of the last 25 years. When new in 2004 this Blue Quartz CL500 cost the equivalent of £140,000, including close to £3,000 of extra options such as enhanced seats and a smart wood and leather wheel. In the intervening 22 years it has clocked up a shade over 81,000 miles, a figure supported by a run of regular servicing by main dealers and specialists. The last service was in July 2024 since when it has barely covered 3,000 miles.

The vendor acquired the car in 2025 and has subsequently replaced the PSE pump. The smart AMG five spoke alloys were refurbished shortly before purchase.

Beautifully specified, in great condition and with MOT to February 2027, this car is peak Mercedes and looks a hugely rewarding buy.
