Highlights
- Sought-after 218bhp Cooper S Works GP1
- One of less than 500 sold in UK
- Well presented and largely factory standard car
- Said to have been owned by Kate Moss
- Dry stored within a private collection
- MOT valid until June 2027 with no advisories
The Appeal
The GP1 is a MINI, but not as we know it. It set the template for later versions, focusing on a lighter, faster, track-ready approach that arguably makes it the ultimate road-going R53. Just 2,000 were made available worldwide, with only around 500 allocated to the UK, all painted in distinctive Thunder Blue with a Pure Silver roof and Chilli Red mirrors.
The changes over the standard Cooper S are extensive. Power rises from 168bhp to 218bhp, helped by a large intercooler; the brakes are bigger, there’s a functional carbon Aero wing, reduced sound deadening, a roll cage in place of a rear seat, an LSD and JCW suspension.
This example, number 1,524 of the 2,000-unit run, is a nicely presented car that is said to have been previously owned by Kate Moss. It has been dry-stored in a private collection and comes with what the vendor describes as a full Mini/BMW service history. The vendor states that the car is in good overall condition and reports that it runs and drives very well.
With an advisory-free MOT valid until June 2027, this GP1 offers an opportunity to own one of MINI's most celebrated limited editions, with strong provenance.
The vendor says:
“An unbeatable drivers car, future classic and one of the best investment cars available on the market today.”
