The Appeal
The 997 returned the classic 911 cues that traditionalists love, like the oval headlamps and classic dash, whilst retaining the all-round supercar usability that made the 996 such a gamechanger.
The key to any modern 911 purchase is specification, an area that this car has properly covered. It is the upgraded ‘S’ with the larger 350bhp 3.8L flat six, which is mated to that favourite of purists, an ‘old school’ 6spd manual box. Then there’s the colour scheme - classic ‘Triple Black’ as favoured by buyers of the original drop top air cooled 911. The first buyer of this car also optioned it up, including heated seats, PCM and Bose sounds.
The car has been with the current keeper since 2016 and is in good order. There are a couple of cosmetic points to note and the vendor comments about the engine below. The service history is impressive with a run of regular main dealer and specialist stamps to 2025. In 2020 the car went to Fearsport for an £8,000 overhaul that included a Sachs clutch kit. The current MOT runs to July 2026 with no mechanical or structural advisories.
With Spring threatening to spring, for the right buyer this well-specified and maintained 997 offers a chance to make sunny days feel even brighter.
The vendor says:
“There has been a recent inspection to confirm minor borescoring, a common item to rectify on the 997. There are two videos showing the slight noise under revs and whilst at idle. This was not noticed by the current owner, and the car drives very well, fast, tight and fabulous
“A much loved sportscar from long-term ownership that is only being sold as the current lady in her advancing years is looking for an automatic. Ideal project, perhaps worthy of a 4 litre conversion, an opportunity to bespoke build your own manual 997.”
