The Appeal
The X-Type was Jaguar’s bid to do battle with the 3-Series and A4. Excellent Ford underpinnings delivered a car that was surprisingly agile, while the body profile and the luxury interior pointed to classic Jaguar touchstones.
Sales never quite matched the potential, but those who experience these great cars, tend to love them. The current keeper is proof - he has owned three and says that this well kept 2009 final edition facelift car is the best of them. He bought it from a Jaguar dealer when it was a year old. It is a top specification Sovereign in Indigo Blue with Sand Beige leather, mahogany veneers and the economical 2.2L 155bhp TDI engine.
The car wears a few light cosmetic points, but nothing that significantly detracts or couldn’t be remedied. The service book shows a run of regular maintenance, primarily by main dealers, up to August 2025. The car has covered few miles since. The MOT runs to August with a single minor, easily remedied advisory.
Economical, extremely comfortable and with that essential ‘Jaguarness’, this is a smart and clearly much-loved example of the excellent X Type.
The vendor says:
“This is a true driver's car, and I am sad to have to part with it. It was one of the last of its type off the production line and by far the best of the three X-types that I have owned. The steering is precise and the clutch engages crisply. The six-speed gearbox enables good acceleration, smooth driving and accurate speed control at all speeds (it is still getting used to the 20 mph limit!). The luxurious interior is a joy, especially the mahogany steering wheel.”
