The Appeal
The first-generation B8 S5 finally took the European coupe battle right to BMW’s front door. As quick as an M3, but with a technologically advanced, Quattro-focussed, surefooted approach, the S5 also had the impeccable build and engineering quality typical of Noughties-era Audis.
The trick when buying one of these cars is to find one that has been looked after and not messed with. As if by magic, that is exactly what we have here. It also has a key ingredient that is sadly lacking in modern super coupes - a manual gearbox. The car is well specified, including over £3,500 of factory options detailed below.
The car is in good order throughout, with a few age related marks typical of the mileage. These are not unsightly in the photos and could be lived with or improved. The service history shows a run of stamps up to May 2026 when the car received new plugs. At the same time, the intake port was carbon cleaned, a key job on these grunty FSI engines. The service book records a clutch and dual mass flywheel change in 2021. The rear discs were changed at the same time, with the front being replaced in late 2022. The current MOT runs to May 2027 with points to note on the test.
This B8 S5 mixes analogue engagement with classic Quattro tech. It’s likely a hoot to drive. Here’s your chance to find out.
The vendor says:
“Excellent vehicle to drive, sounds incredible, unlike most other cars on the road today. Naturally aspirated V8 paired to a 6 speed manual really is a combination to shout about these days.”
