Description
Presented in the early 60s, the Jaguar Type E has today become a true icon of motoring. Even Enzo Ferrari would regard it as one of the most beautiful cars in the world! It also has a genuine racing pedigree (revolutionary aerodynamics for its day), in addition to being a luxurious and incredibly beautiful car. All of this contributed to its commercial success (over 72, 000 Type E models produced) as well as placing it in the same league as Aston Martin or Ferrari, but at a lower purchase price…
The Jaguar Type E replaced the Jaguar XK which had built the marque’s reputation in the 50s. It would be sold as a coupé (and 2+2 versions) and a cabriolet, and would see 3 different series if we exclude Series 1. 5 (Series 1 from 1961 to 1967, Series 1. 5 as a transitional phase in 1967, Series 2 from 1968 to 1970 and finally Series 3 from 1971 to 1975).
It was replaced in 1975 by the Jaguar XJS.
NYC's/ OXOTO presents for sale this magnificent example of the Jaguar Type E in green, with a beige interior and under 1, 700 kms on the odometer.
Delivered new in 1967 (thus one of the late Series 1) in the USA (as with many Type Es) in New York, it was bought 35 years ago by its current Belgian owner who has (truly) spent without counting to make it just PERFECT after a complete and total restoration: EVERYTHING has been rebuilt! Note that originally it was blue with a blue interior, but its owner preferred to give it the famous “British Racing Green,” with a beige interior—the perfect combo.
We have an enormous file of renovation invoices as well as many photos of the restoration (on request).
The bodywork is simply impeccable, with no defects to report; no scratches, no dents, and no trace of corrosion — it is truly pristine.
The chrome bits, windscreen surround, and the hood are free from any defect.
The interior is as impeccable as the bodywork, absolutely nothing to fault in the condition of the seats, the wooden steering wheel, the dashboard, the centre console, the door trims, etc. … It’s really a Type E that could be considered concours-condition!
Mechanically, nothing to fault either; it starts at the turn of the key, it sits true, no overheating, and its acceleration is optimal.
The latest technical inspection report dates from May 2022 (29 kms on the odometer, i. e. just after the completion of the restoration) and mentions no technical remarks about the car.
This Jaguar Type E is in a state such that it feels like buying a brand-new car, and yet 59 years after its first spins on the tarmac!
A ramp is also available on our premises to showcase the underside of the vehicle.
