This UK market GTA was bought by McGrath Maserati managing director Andy Heywood in 2007 from Veloces in North London. Andy is the second owner, the first having purchased the car on a lease scheme in Nottingham when it was first registered in October 2003.

The service history shows four stamps in the book during the first owner’s tenure, and also acknowledges a change of speedometer at 19, 882 miles. When purchased by Andy, it was showing 21, 311 on the new speedo and today shows 46, 000, making 66, 000 miles in total, which must be one of the lowest mileage examples left.

Initially used as a daily driver, the GTA sometimes took time off when other cars came along, but was always kept as Andy couldn’t quite bring himself to sell it. During his ownership, it has comprehensive service history either by the McGrath organisation or from Jamie Porter’s Alfa Workshop. Indeed in 2014 Alfa Workshop serviced the car and fitted a Q2 differential. And in 2015, after the one and only time the car disgraced itself by overheating, Alfa Workshop carried out a partial engine rebuild. Since then, it has been trouble free, though it has only covered 8, 000 miles.

Some paintwork has been carried out after the typical 156 front wing corrosion started and being red, there was also some loss of paint pigment. This was done in-house by a trusted McGrath subcontractor and completed in around 2018.

In 2019, a new Alfaholics supplied stainless steel centre and rear sections of exhaust were fitted and the cam belt was last changed in 2023, 3000 miles ago as part of a major service.

In all other respects however, this is a totally original example and it is in excellent condition. It has the desirable black and tan interior with only very minimal wear, and everything works, including the original CD autochanger and the air conditioning.

It has recently had a fluids service, including brakes and gearbox, and has a new MOT.

While this has never been a show car, it is an exceedingly well looked after and honest example of these amazing cars with a comprehensive history file and complete book pack. Fabulous to drive, and listen to, and entirely usable.

It is for sale at McGrath Maserati, where it can be viewed.
