The Appeal
Jaguar chose the E-Type as the production test bed for its new V12. And let's be very glad it did. The decision extended the life of one of Britain’s best-loved sports cars and turned it into the GT it was always meant to be.
The smooth, sinuous engine is a perfect match for the Series III, whose extra cabin space makes these later cars popular with enthusiasts. This early LHD OTS car dials up the relaxation with its automatic gearbox, creating an effortless long-distance cruiser.
It appears to be a very low-mileage car. It was acquired by the current keeper - a high-end classic car collector - from its elderly first USA owner in 2019 and returned to the UK. Since then it has received a high-end respray in the original stand-out red. The rest of the car was highly preserved and has been wisely kept original.
In very good running order and smartly presented, this is a great example of Jaguar’s iconic GT.

- Roof headlining has light staining but not unsightly
- Underside in good order with evidence of undersealing and only light paint flake visible
- Classic fluted exhaust tailpipe fitted
- Beige leather interior in what appears to be original, unrestored condition
- Cabin presents very well with light patina of age such as to seat bases
- Fitted with air conditioning and period radio cassette player
- Switchgear and trim well presented with good decals and clear dials
- Three-spoke leather-rimmed factory steering wheel
The current keeper - a high-end collector - acquired this car in the USA from its first keeper in 2019. He has sympathetically retained the originality whilst rectifying the paintwork condition with a full professional respray. The result is a car that is in very good structural condition but with the gentle patina of its low-owner history.
It retains the early Series III features like the fluted exhaust tailpipe. Inside there is USA-specification and air conditioning and a period radio cassette. This is a lovely, characterful car that is ready to enjoy.
