The Appeal
The Triumph Stag remains one of the most desirable British grand tourers of the 1970s. Penned by Giovanni Michelotti, it was the only open-top GT of its era to feature a bespoke V8 engine, and its combination of elegant styling, effortless cruising ability and open-air motoring has ensured a devoted and ever-growing following. In British Racing Green, the Stag looks every inch the classic British sports car it was designed to be.
This 1977 example, previously registered in the UK before being imported to Spain, has been extensively rebuilt from the ground up. Crucially, the car has been fitted with a waterless coolant system, a significant upgrade that directly addresses the Stag's well-documented tendency towards overheating. A new oil pump and fuel pump have also been fitted. The vendor informs us that the car is in very good condition both inside and out, that it runs beautifully and is a pleasure to drive.
Both the original hard top and soft top are included, offering versatility through the seasons. It comes to market with a valid ITV through to February 2027, and the history file includes maintenance invoices, registration documents and inspection certificates from both the UK and Spain, as well as some restoration photographs. For those seeking a well-sorted Stag with the hard work already done, this is a compelling proposition.
