The Appeal
For fans of the earlier, slim-bumper air-cooled cars, the F-Body 1971 911 is something of a gem, which is saying something considering that the car’s lineage is littered with them. The long wheelbase provides more surefooted handling, the long nose looks great, and the 2.2L flat six is a high-revving charisma machine. The ‘E’ is a wise choice too, offering a good blend of power and comfort for long drives and touring.
This early 1971 car spent its life in the cossetting climes of California before arriving in the UK in 2011. The first keeper planned to use it as a donor, but changed his mind when he realised how good it was. It passed to the current keeper in 2017, who immediately sent it to a Porsche specialist to check over. They overhauled the brakes and welded localised areas. Since then, it has been used very sparingly and dry-stored for the last four years.
It is now offered for sale in the hope that a new custodian will give it the regular use it deserves. It comes to market with a recent £3,000 overhaul by specialist Majestic Motors including service, battery and new tyres. This is a complete, tidy 911E that gives the buyer the scope to use, enjoy, or improve it.

The Mechanics

- Recent £3,000 overhaul including servicing and battery
Enthusiasts will endlessly disagree on the ‘best’ early air-cooled 911 engine, but if you want high-revving driving with a motorsport feel, then you want this car with its fuel-injected 2.2L motor. These cars also got the traditional Type 901 5-speed gearbox with its dogleg layout. Together, they add to this early car’s deep charisma.
The car received brake work on purchase in 2018 but has been little used since the last MOT expired (it is now exempt). It has been in storage for four years but comes to market with recent servicing and new battery as detailed in invoices shown.
